Fastening Systems: Categories, Makes and Models

Sunbelt Stud Welding carries a variety of CD, Arc, CNC, and production welders. Each type of stud welding machine is used for specific types of applications.

Capacitor Discharge (CD) fastening systems are used to weld small fasteners and and studs to thin work pieces. These welds are strong, leave no burn through marks, and have a weld cycle of only a few milliseconds.

CNC fastening systems are used for automatic stud welding applications. Depending on the specific CNC fastening system, these high-tech,  precise, and reliable stud welding machines can weld multiple studs a minute without any manual labor. These stud welders are fantastic for large projects and assembly lines.

Arc stud welding machines are used to weld large diameter studs to thicker work pieces. The arc charge is concentrated onto the work piece by a ceramic ferrule. These also have a weld cycle of only a few milliseconds and many of these stud welding machines are portable.

Productions welders tend to be either CNC fastening systems or stud welding units with powerful energy units and multiple welding guns. The latter is fantastic for bringing out to the job site and allows for several people to work on the same project simultaneously.
